The Toyota GR Yaris has been stirring up a lot of conversation in the car community. And in our opinion rightly so!
With some glowing reviews on The Late Brake Show, Top Gear & Harry’s Garage Finally, Toyota have reminded us that they can still make an exciting car. So with a new GR range including the GR Corolla and GR Supra coming down the pipeline, we can be sure that this car has been a hit with the underloved and overlooked car enthusiast.
So what exactly makes the GR Yaris so popular?
Having spent some hands-on time with this new homologation beast developing our own aftermarket exhaust system, we thought we would take the chance to do a quick breakdown of the key elements that have gotten our gears going.

We all know what a Yaris is. Sensible, safe, reassuring and let’s face it boring. Well be rest assured the new GR Yaris is similar in name only. This car is bold, brave and unexpected and this is exactly why we love it.
The last time Toyota produced a four wheel drive car in something of this size was over twenty years ago. The GR Yaris has been developed for the WRC with Gazoo Racing. A reverse engineered vision of a car that was built for the top level of competitive rally motorsport and this is what you get.
So let’s talks specs. The GR Yaris offers a 4WD system, 18″ forged alloy wheels, 1.6-litre, three cylinder turbocharged engine that puts you at 257bhp straight out of the box.
